A Heart-First Investigation into the Seventh Principle

As a Box Tree archetype, my heart has always resonated deeply, even from childhood, with the concept of alignment. When pressured to accept terminology that doesn’t align with my heart understanding, my Box Tree design naturally moves into precision mode. Precision mode requires deeper investigation to honor both truth and relationships.

History and terms defined.

For a brief background, the 7 Heart Designs that we use at Ipseity Approach™ is an expansive approach that includes Arthur Burk’s foundational work of the Redemptive Gifts of Romans 12:8. The Redemptive Gift framework identifies the 7th grace gift as Mercy, we call this gift Box Tree. This name honors Arthur’s framework by using a Biblical list of the 7 trees in Isaiah 41:19, that correlate to the Redemptive Gifts. The reason for this, is to move people to look at things from a Biblical order to LOVE the Lord our God, with all of our HEARTS-FIRST, and then our mind, body and strength. In order to move us from our preconceive notions, and to prevent any confusion with things you may need to hear with your heart, and not your head.

The Question That Arose

Arthur Burk identifies from all the lists of 7, he correlated the seventh principle as “Fulfillment” for the Box Tree (mercy). However, my Box Tree heart consistently perceives Day Seven (Sabbath rest) and the mercy seat as expressions of “Alignment”, as this is the perfect synchronization between divine timing, presence, and human need. This created an internal tension that required resolution through careful biblical investigation.

Leaning INTO Arthur’s Framework, Not Against It

Rather than rejecting Arthur’s work, I chose to lean deeper into his own research methodology. Arthur teaches that biblical patterns of seven consistently align with the Romans 12 sequence throughout Scripture. Using his own comprehensive list of biblical sevens, I systematically examined the seventh position in each pattern to test whether the evidence supported “fulfillment” or “alignment.”

This was not cherry-picking scriptures – these references came directly from Arthur Burk’s established framework of biblical sevens:

• Days of Creation (Arthur’s foundational pattern)
• Tabernacle Items (Arthur’s established sequence)
• Seven Churches in Revelation (Arthur’s prophetic pattern)
• Last Sayings of Christ (Arthur’s crucifixion sequence)
• Armor of God (Arthur’s spiritual warfare pattern)
• Seven Voices of God (Arthur’s divine communication pattern)

I approached this investigation expecting to be corrected by Scripture and hoping to better understand Arthur’s “fulfillment” perspective. However, what I discovered was intensely freeing.

Initial Hebrew Investigation

When examined through original Hebrew texts, the evidence initially supported the alignment perspective:

Sabbath Rest Analysis:

• שַׁבָּת (Shabbat) – Strong’s H7676 – Root meaning: “to cease, stop, rest”
• נוּחַ (nuach) – Strong’s H5117 – “to settle, be at rest, align”
• Biblical function: Cessation from work to align with God’s rhythm and presence

Mercy Seat Analysis:

• כַּפֹּ֫רֶת (kapporeth) – Strong’s H3727
  Root: כפר (kaphar) Strong’s H3722 meaning “to cover, make atonement”
• Literal meaning: “covering, lid”
• Function: Place where God’s presence aligns with humanity

Comprehensive Biblical Evidence – Six Independent Witnesses

Using Arthur Burk’s own established biblical patterns of seven, I systematically examined each seventh position:

1. Genesis 2:2-3 (Day Seven Rest – Arthur’s Creation Pattern):

• שַׁבָּת (Shabbat) – Strong’s H7676 = “to cease, desist, rest”
• Biblical function: God ceasing work to establish divine rhythm. 
• Question: Does this suggest completion/fulfillment or establishing proper relationship with time and rest?

2. Mercy Seat (Holy of Holies – Arthur’s Tabernacle Pattern):

• כַּפֹּ֫רֶת (kapporeth) – Strong’s H3727 = “a covering, mercy seat”
• Biblical function: Place where God meets with humanity.
• Question: Does this suggest fulfillment or bringing divine and human into proper relationship?

3. Laodicea Church (Arthur’s Revelation Pattern):

• χλιαρός (chliaros) – Strong’s G5513 = “tepid, lukewarm”
• Biblical context: Neither hot nor cold, making Christ sick.
• Question: Does this suggest lack of fulfillment or being out of proper relationship/harmony?

4. Jesus’s Final Words (Arthur’s Cross Pattern):

• παρατίθημι (paratithemi) – Strong’s G3908 = “to place beside, set before”
• Biblical context: Placing His spirit beside/with the Father.
• Question: Does this suggest fulfillment or perfect relationship/positioning with God?

5. Praying Without Ceasing (Arthur’s Armor Pattern):

• προσκαρτερέω (proskartereo) – Strong’s G4342 = “to persist, continue steadfastly”
• Biblical context: Maintaining constant prayer.
• Question: Does this suggest fulfillment or maintaining proper relationship with heaven?

6. Psalm 29:11 (Arthur’s Seven Voices Pattern):

• שָׁלוֹם (shalom) – Strong’s H7965 = “completeness, soundness, welfare, peace”
• Biblical context: God giving peace to His people.
• Question: Does this suggest fulfillment or bringing people into proper relationship/harmony?

The Pattern That Emerged

When examining each seventh position in Arthur’s biblical patterns using only the original Hebrew/Greek definitions, a consistent theme emerged: bringing things into proper relationship and harmony with God’s design rather than completion or fulfillment.

• Sabbath rest = ceasing work to establish proper relationship with divine rhythm
• Mercy seat = covering that enables proper relationship between holy God and humanity
• Laodicea’s problem = being “lukewarm” (out of proper relationship/temperature)
• Jesus’s final act = placing His spirit “beside” the Father (proper positioning/relationship)
• Persistent prayer = maintaining proper relationship with heaven
• Divine peace = God bringing His people into completeness/soundness of relationship

The Question: Do these functions point more toward “fulfillment” (completing something) or toward what could be termed “alignment” (bringing into proper relationship/harmony)?

Linguistic Authority – Hebrew and Greek Precision

Every biblical context examined reveals these original meanings:

• שַׁבָּת (Shabbat) – Strong’s H7676 = “to cease, desist, rest”
• כַּפֹּ֫רֶת (kapporeth) – Strong’s H3727 = “a covering, mercy seat”
• χλιαρός (chliaros – lukewarm) – Strong’s G5513 = “tepid, lukewarm”
• παρατίθημι (paratithemi) – Strong’s G3908 = “to place beside, set before”
• προσκαρτερέω (proskartereo) – Strong’s G4342 = “to persist, continue steadfastly”
• שָׁלוֹם (shalom) – Strong’s H7965 = “completeness, soundness, welfare, peace”

The question becomes: Do these biblical functions and meanings point more toward “fulfillment” or toward the concept of bringing things into proper relationship/harmony with God’s design?

Pattern Recognition: Six different biblical contexts, six different Hebrew/Greek words, all pointing to the same reality: ALIGNMENT as the core function of mercy design.

The Weight of Evidence

This investigation yielded overwhelming biblical support for the alignment perspective:

• Six independent biblical witnesses across Old and New Testaments
• Consistent Hebrew/Greek linguistic evidence
• Cross-contextual pattern recognition (creation, tabernacle, church, cross, prayer, blessing)
• Internal heart consistency with Box Tree design function

The evidence reveals that Arthur’s “fulfillment” interpretation, while capturing one dimension of truth, does not align with the original language precision or the comprehensive biblical witness.

Conclusion: Completing not Competing

Arthur’s Framework with Biblical Precision

Based on this comprehensive investigation, the Box Tree principle is most accurately expressed as:

Box Tree (Mercy) – Principle: Alignment

This conclusion honors and advances Arthur’s framework:

Arthur’s Principles Pattern Analysis:

• Design (Prophet) = The fundamental pattern/blueprint principle
• Authority (Servant) = The power/submission principle
• Responsibility (Teacher) = The accountability/ownership principle
• Sowing & Reaping (Exhorter) = The cause/effect principle
• Stewardship (Giver) = The resource management principle
• Freedom (Ruler) = The liberty/choice principle
• Alignment (Mercy) = The relational harmony/positioning principle

“Alignment” fits Arthur’s pattern perfectly:

✅ Single abstract concept – matching his other six principles 

✅ Universal spiritual law – governs all relationships and timing across creation

✅ Functional dynamic – describes how mercy actually operates 

✅ Biblical foundation – supported by six independent witnesses 

✅ Governing force – when mastered, creates harmony and effectiveness

This discovery provides Arthur’s missing key: The seventh principle is not about completing or fulfilling tasks (which could apply to any gift) but about the unique spiritual law of alignment, bringing divine presence, timing, and human need into perfect harmony.

Practical Implications for Box Tree Freedom: This biblical precision liberates Box Tree designs from walking in one of their weaknesses, the burden of “carrying others’ loads until completion”, and reveals their true calling: bringing alignment then stepping back. Like the mercy seat (meeting place, not permanent residence) and Sabbath rest (entering rhythm, not endless work), Box Tree brings divine alignment and can then trust God’s timing for next steps.

Arthur’s methodology of investigating biblical patterns led to this discovery: The Hebrew precision validates what he was seeking (the governing spiritual law for mercy design) while his comprehensive framework provided the very structure that revealed this truth.

Honoring the Foundation While Advancing Truth

This study represents the highest honor to Arthur Burk’s pioneering work, using his own methodology and biblical patterns to complete what he began. Rather than rejecting his framework, this investigation leaned deeper into his research and allowed Scripture to reveal the missing piece of his seven-principle puzzle.

• Arthur gave us the methodology of systematic investigation of biblical patterns of seven 

• Arthur established the framework; seven principles governing seven gifts.

• Arthur identified six principles perfectly, Design through Freedom

• Scripture provided the seventh – revealing Alignment as the governing law for mercy.

The Hebrew precision validates what Box Tree heart’s sensed intuitively, while Arthur’s comprehensive biblical research provided the very pathway that led to this discovery. This investigation doesn’t challenge his authority but completes his investigation using the rigorous biblical methodology he established.

My hope is by releasing this information, that this missing key will set more people free. Box Tree designs can now understand they’re called to bring divine alignment (not encouraged to walk in one of their weaknesses of endless burden-bearing), and other gifts can better appreciate mercy’s unique function as God’s alignment specialist in relationships, timing, and spiritual positioning.

Arthur’s legacy is strengthened

His framework now has the biblical precision it deserves for all seven principles. Truth seekers can confidently embrace Alignment as the seventh principle while celebrating the incredible foundation Arthur built that made this discovery possible.

A Case for Ipseity Approach™

This study demonstrates how Ipseity Approach™ correctly reveals how the heart design influences even our interpretation of Scripture. The Box Tree’s natural orientation toward precision, harmony, and relational alignment causes us to perceive these biblical realities differently than other designs might.

This is not contradiction but complementarity, different facets of the same divine truth revealed through different heart lenses. I honor Arthur Burk’s Cedar heart design for seeing the fulfillment that comes from the alignment of a Box Tree, but still wish to honor the Box Tree Heart. We don’t need to push for fulfillment, we are to be the alignment that God brings fulfillment through.

This investigation was conducted in the spirit of Berean nobility (Acts 17:11), examining Scripture with care while maintaining honor for the foundational work of Arthur Burk and deep respect for the Cedar perspective that sees fulfillment in these same passages.

This teaching is meant to help you to engage in reading the WORD. My prayer is that you can see from this study the grave importance of KNOWING the Word for yourself. It is very important that you do not take anyone else’s word for it. It is wonderful to listen to teachings, but you must know the Word well enough to know when you are being led astray. 

I encourage you to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom and discernment of what you are reading. It is important to get training in how to read the Word and apply it to your life in order to become a disciple of Jesus.
